Interview Marco Induti, Technical Leader Vision Systems at Swiss Safety Center
Marco, please tell me something about yourself.
Handsome, good and intelligent! Just kidding, I would say curious, passionate (sometimes too much) and reliable. I see myself as a professional made by a mix of completely opposite ingredients, in terms of education, life-experiences and working roles. The desire to learn more and more together with the willingness to progress and cultivate a growth mindset are my main drivers, without excluding a good amount of self-confidence.
How long are you working at Swiss Safety Center?
I know Swiss Safety Center since years, I joined the Advanced NDT Team in mid-2020.
Explain us what a new customer should know about the Industrial Vision Systems? What are the advantages?
Having “artificial eyes” looking at the objects from different perspectives allow to perform tasks that humans would not be able to do: for instance, any surface inspection in high-throughput production lines, or all those analyses made in the non-visible spectrum. In addition, performing a 100% quality check and manage properly the generated data let quickly understand and efficiently react to any deviation during the whole process cycle.
What is the exciting part of your job?
First of all, it’s always different, full of variety and challenges. It gives you the possibility to use a good dose of creativity driven by experience and a solid background. The contamination of skills used during projects is amazing and the daily feeling during all the different stages is that nothing is really impossible.
Everyday there is something to learn, ideas to share, new things taking shape and of course a good portion of fun.
Where do you see “machine vision” in the coming five years?
Well, looking back, the technology has improved exponentially over the last 10 years, as well as the number of applications in which machine vision is used. I’ve seen a sharp evolution of Hardware systems, Software tools and the growing demand for Machine Learning and Deep Learning solutions. Market forecast and expectations are promising for the next years with a good Compound Annual Growth Rate. Likewise, the cloud services applied in the process are likely to gain more and more share.
