Dr Daniel Galsterer: new Head of Materials Technology Testing Laboratory at Swiss Safety Center

Dr Galsterer has a Doctorate in Materials Science Engineering. In his professional work, he expanded his expertise in damage and material analysis and corrosion in various industrial fields, including medical technology, aviation and space travel. His specialist and project skills were complemented by leadership skills in a variety of managerial positions, e.g. as Head of Materials Testing NDT (Non Destructive Testing) and DT (Destructive Testing). As Head of Innovation, he founded the Industrial Computed Tomography division of what is now Eurofins Qualitech and worked as Head of Quality Management and in the MedTech Business Development division.

He owes his excellent networking in Swiss professional circles to his many years of work in industry as well as his secondary activities as Head of the Radiographic Testing (RT) and Test Supervision (RT) commission of the Swiss Society for Non-Destructive Testing (SGZP).

In his new role, he is responsible for Swiss Safety Center’s testing laboratory, whose core competence lies in the area of material testing and damage analysis of primarily metallic materials. His goal is to develop the range of services in the direction of advanced NDT, on the one hand by expanding digital radiography through to computed tomography and, on the other hand, by using and combining the NDT capabilities of the entire SVTI Group.

‘I see the testing laboratory as a competence centre and partner for individual examinations and material engineering reports through to comprehensive quality assurance for customers in a wide range of industries, both nationally and internationally,’ says Dr Daniel Galsterer, Head of Materials Technology Testing Laboratory.
